Emerald Coast Zoo
WE LOVE THIS ZOO! Located on the way to Defuniak Springs, off of Hwy 90. This a smaller but well maintained zoo. Regardless of your age, you are sure to enjoy an outing at Emerald Coast Zoo!
Blackwater River Seclude Sandbar
Have a 4 wheel drive? Then you can get back to this large, secluded sandbar on the blackwater river that only locals know about. Shhhhh.
Bone creek is right around the corner and is a great place to take a quick dip, do some fishing, or take a perfect 1 mile hike around the creek.
Penny Creek
A short 1 mile hike into the Blackwater River State park, and you will find this gem of an oasis. This is a secluded spot within the state Florida that is a perfect place to just enjoy nature. There is a state park narrow rough road to access as well.
Canoeing, Blackwater River
Canoeing on the Blackwater River is a spring and summertime favorite! Do 1/2 a day, full day, or even overnight. Click the picture to go to Blackwater Canoe Rental, though there are several in the area.
